The Society is currently planning its next International Convention to be held at Leicester University on Friday 13th to Sunday 15th July 2018.

The University’s recently refurbished conference centre has excellent meeting facilities and offers campus accommodation with ensuite bathrooms. The food is excellent and there are great bar facilities for relaxing with other delegates in the evenings. There will be a formal convention banquet on the Saturday evening.

“There will be seven speakers of international repute, six of whom will be from overseas, five of whom will give two presentations. This time all presentations are of equal length.” As with previous conventions, there will be a balance of talks between cacti and other succulents, all of which will be of interest to the expert and beginner alike. More detailed information about the speakers and topics will be published in due course.

There will be exhibits by other plant societies and displays by societies, groups and members. There will also be plants offered for sale by many nurseries and individuals, including some from outside the UK, with many plants that are not often available.

The 2014 convention was attended by a number of our newer members who, by all accounts, enjoyed it just as much as the more seasoned and experienced convention-goers. All members are welcome – there is something for everyone.

2018 may yet seem some way off but please plan ahead and consider participating. This is just as much for members as it is for societies and other groups. We hope you will all want to be part of this exciting event!
